Refocus

Was reading through some stuff on "The Daily Bible Verse: Truth Delivered" and ran across these two verses and explanations. It is so easy to forget how amazing the mystery of Christ is and so easy to get wrapped up in turning to sources for hope other than God's Word. I do it everyday when I idolize my education. I need to refocus on the importance of His Word in order to truly indulge in the awesomeness that is Christ! Attending InterVarsity the other night I definitely got a wake up call that I need to be spending more time with the Lord in my EVERYDAY life and SET ASIDE TIME to spend. Not just as it is convenient.

"They are not just idle words for you-they are your life. By them you will live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.” – Deuteronomy 32:47 (NIV)

The Scripture was never meant to be good advice or a philosophical option – it was made to be the very source of our life. When we treat the Bible as one option of many, we don’t experience the life changing force that God breathed into it – it will just be words on a document. But when we approach the Bible with the intent to obey all that we see, the Scripture comes alive and becomes a guide for us into our promised land.

"My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. – Colossians 2:2-3 (NIV)

According to the apostle Paul, when we try to understand the life of Jesus, we are stepping into a treasure chest of wisdom and knowledge. But like most wisdom, our inquiries start as a mystery. The mystery of Christ as the God-man helps us to face our sufferings with the One who experienced our pain. The mystery of the resurrection empowers us with hope for situations that would lead us to despair. Learn about Jesus Christ so that you can live encouraged in heart and have the full riches that God wants to give.

My Top Songs of All Time

So I was updating my ipod and was taking a much needed 20 min "music break" as I like to take when I am in need of a pick-me-up, study break, relaxing moment, or just a small escape from the everyday hustle bustle - as I laid there on my bed listening to my ipod Gavin Degraw's "Chariot" came on (the stripped version) and I thought to myself how this is a song I could never get sick of. Prompted me to think about what other songs I find timeless in my books and that I have always been able to listen to...here's my pretty short list.

Konstantine - Something Corporate
Washed by the Water - Needtobreathe
Chariot(stripped version) - Gavin Degraw
Plane - Jason Mraz
Sink or Swim - Tyrone Wells
You Raise Me Up - Josh Groban
Anthem Of Our Discovery - Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers

Washed by the Water

Very thankful to the Lord. Wanted to praise Him. So I recorded a cover of Needtobreathe's 'Washed by the Water'

It's not perfect but who ever listed a perfect way to praise God?

Kate Voegele Version of Hallelujah

I really really love this version of the song. I am making it a goal to learn this on guitar. Haven't gotten to spend more than about an hour playing this semester so far...can't wait for a little bit more time.

Girl's Weekend in NY!

So I had a PA school interview in NY on Monday at Hofstra University on Long Island. BUT, before we went there, my mom and I decided to make the rest of the weekend a girls weekend! Here are some pictures and descriptions.

We got in on Saturday morning/afternoon and then took a walk around and found a cute little street market with all sorts of interesting things. One being a corn bread sandwich with mozzarella cheese in the middle. It was interesting to try but not what we were hoping.

We then waled around some more and ended up over by the central park zoo. Mom and me by the entrance.

Here are a few more pictures from our walk...

That night we went and saw the Addam's Family Musical. It was awesome! We unfortunately weren't allowed to take pictures while in the actual hall but I wish I could have. The set was SO creative!! Here is a picture of mom and me before the show...

The next day we shopped till we found shoes to match my suit for my interview then took a long walk through central park. SO BEAUTIFUL.

Then on the subway back we got serenaded...i only caught it on film though so that will have to come later. One of my favorite things while we were there was the elevators in the hotel...you typed in the floor that you wanted to go to and it told you what car to go to. It was so awesome! It made it so much easier than trying to figure out which one to wait by and yadayadayada. SO COOL.

Here are a few pics of times square at night...

The next day was my interview. Here are pics from campus. Also, I love the pic of the squirrel. And I thought the squirrels in madison were friendly! He let me get so close before running away!

This is the building my interview was supposed to be in according to the email I got...so nerve wracking to find out they changed the place and never sent you an email!

And my favorite pic!

Totally touched...

Ok so i know I should be writing my paper right now...im 5 full pages into 8 so its getting closer! I needed a break though so I turned on Pandora on a Needtobreathe station and what comes on? Mercyme's "Finally Home" I just kinda stopped everything I was doing when I heard it. It was SO beautiful. Made me really think about things. Especially the end of the first verse..."And tell him all about the man that I became / And hope that it pleased him"

Ask yourself, are you being a person that pleases Him?? I'm hard core reflecting right now...and praying that He guides me to become that person.
